The Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group requests the Wildlife Authority (BBKSDA) in East Java stops cruelty to animals in Taman Galaxy Mini Zoo in Jember, East Java Province. The request was submitted via email to the Head of BBKSDA East Java on Friday (27th of January 2017).
Some photographs and link to youtube video of the animals (long-tailed macaques and pig-tailed macaques) in the Galaxy Mini Zoo are also attached to the email.
A member of the Scorpion visited these animals on Tuesday (17th of January 2017) and found some animals confined in small cages or chained without access to drinking water 24/7.
Placing animals in small cages or chained without access to drinking water 24/7 is a crystal clear form of cruelty to animals, therefore, Scorpion requested the Wildlife Authority to end this cruelty without delay.
The report of animal condition in Taman Galaxy Mini Zoo also copied to the Director of Biodiversity Conservation at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry.
