Posted on 02:11 March 29th, 2025

Bulumario, Sipirok: -

Local women in Batangtoru conducted monitoring of biodiversity in surrounding forest of Bulumario village, South Tapanuli on the 14th of December 2024. Patrol team consisted of Tampi, Nur Amina, Megawati, and Hotmaida. Aris Dedi Daulay from Scorpion Foundation also participated in the activity.

During the visit to the village, the team encountered a couple of Siamangs (Symphalangus syndactylus) playing on trees. The team frightened these animals and then these endangered animals went away from the area (which was quite close to residential area) to the jungle.

The activity of these women group was facilitated by Scorpion Foundation in an effort to promote the roles of women in biodiversity conservation especially in Batangtoru Ecosystem.
