Quality of life of a dugong in SeaWorld Ancol needs to be maintained. In the past the SeaWorld had a couple of dugongs (1 male named Si Doel, and 1 female named Diana) but now there is only one dugong in the SeaWorld, Si Doel while Diana is not there anymore.
Scorpion Investigator visited the SeaWorld on Saturday (30 January 2016) and asked 3 staff of the SeaWorld. 2 staff said, Diana died several months ago while another staff said, Diana moved to quarantine.
It is not good for a creature to live alone. So, to maintain the quality of life of Si Doel, the SeaWorld Management should return Diana to the SeaWorld if she is still alive.
Dugong is a protected animal in Indonesia.
The dugong (Dugong dugon) is a herbivorous marine mammal, often called the “sea cow” for its habit of grazing on seagrass meadows. Its range extends from the shallow tropical and subtropical coastal and island waters of the Indo-Pacific, from East Africa to the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu.
Most of the world’s dugongs (approximately 85,000 individuals are now found in northern Australian waters between Shark Bay, in Western Australia, and Moreton Bay in Queensland. Australian waters are home to at least three-quarters of the global population and are a vitally important stronghold for the species. (
