The Scorpion Wildlife Trade Monitoring Group today (Monday, 30th of January 2017) reported to the Directorate General of Law Enforcement, at the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, of its discovery of an allegedly illegal trade of wildlife, and cruelty to animals, occurring in Satria Wildlife Market, Denpassar, Bali.
The Scorpion investigation team visited the market on Saturday (28th January 2017) and found some long-tailed macaque infants for sale in the market. According to information from some traders, the animals on sale in this market were captured from the forest without a permit. Transportation to this market is not covered with a transportation permit (SATS-DN).
The method of display of the long-tailed macaque infants was also very cruel. Their necks were chained, and they had no access to drinking water 4/7.
