Unfortunately the ‘elang bondol,’ or brahminy kite, may well be nothing but a legend soon – at least in Jakarta anyway.

Most of the animals have been confiscated from the entertainment business in Phuket; others were recovered from smugglers. The orangutans are being examined to ensure they are free of diseases and are expected to return to Indonesia in September
